How I Went from Dead Broke and Unfulfilled Teacher To Owning A Company That Has Worked With International Organizations to Impact Educators and Students
Dear learned colleague, I have taken 99 steps to get this to you (trust me you don't want to know all that's happened behind the scene), but I'm fulfilled doing this because its more about the impact for me. 'Social impact and influence' are my goals for this year and I am happy to do all that it takes to make you the next success story like many of the educators I have coached.
You only need to take the last 1 step to rewrite your story and begin your journey to impact, influence and success.
As a teacher who has worked in different schools (from a small private school in a slum in Lagos, Nigeria to one of the best in the country), and also from my interactions with other educators, I know exactly how you feel when you get paid, and there's a whole lot of responsibility waiting for the arrival of the salary. I understand how it feels when just a few weeks after payday, you are already broke and waiting eagerly for the next month-end.
Oh! talk of how teachers run off to after school lessons, getting home late, tired, and hardly having time for themselves, or the many side hustles that we engage in to make ends meet. See, I speak from experience. I remember when I used to return home at 10:30pm and sometimes 11pm because I lived very far from work and I needed the lessons to compliment my income. I still had to wake up 3:30am the following day to repeat the whole process.
I have had interactions with many education leaders with many years of experience in education who are also unfulfilled or not maximizing their potential. Many times, I have heard them ask questions like 'So what's next for me after serving for this long?' or 'I know I have the capacity to be more but I'm lost and don't know how or where to start.'
These were the exact same feelings I had when I made the decision to take action towards changing the narrative for myself.
It's been 6 years now! And I have not had to do any extra lessons, or bother about living below my capacity. I have been able to build a company and a personal brand which has worked with international organizations to train over 5000 educators and in fact students in the last 4 years. Asides the partnerships with these organizations, I have been able to help educators live a fulfilled life while still doing what they love, which is 'to teach'.
Your story might be similar, worse or perhaps not as bad as mine was, but the fact remains that you desire to live an impactful life, while still being able to live a successful and fulfilled life and that's exactly what I want for you. It breaks my heart to see educators living very poor, downcast, or living below their full potential and I believe that educators who put in their best to raise the future generation should earn what they truly deserve and live the life of affluence and impact that they have always desired.
